Printed set (Score & Parts)
Comissioned in 2022 for Shinonome Junior High School Wind Ensemble in Noshiro City, Akita Prefecture, for ensemble. In 2024, a wind band version was arranged, allowing for performance with a minimum of 19 players.
The piece begins with a melancholic yet beautiful E minor harmony, with the main theme presented by solo alto saxophone. A key point here is to avoid overly expressive phrasing. The climax of the first half, where the tempo increases, briefly modulates to E major, bringing a striking change in color and tonal character. This section should be performed with great attention to detail.
After a transitional section that shifts the atmosphere from sorrow to hope, the latter half builds towards a passionate climax. Players are encouraged to focus on the melody and sing together through the bass lines, counter-melodies, and percussion, creating a unified musical expression.
