"Beyond the Wind for Band" was composed in 2022, commissioned by the wind orchestra of Iida Fuetsu High School in Nagano, Japan. The title was inspired by the word "Fuetsu" from the school's name, which translates to "Crossing the Wind." The concept of "wind" can evoke various images and situations, such as strong winds, gentle breezes, seasons, and landscapes. The composition attempts to capture the diverse intensities and scenarios of wind, presenting them in richly colored musical expression. The aim for those who engage with this piece is to imagine the various sensations of wind they personally feel and to express these images through music.
