Composed in the spring of 2023, commissioned by percussionist Yumi Terada, this is a trio for relatively compact instruments without mallet percussion or timpani.
One of the concepts is synchronization. A key point is that all members play the same rhythm. The beginning is dynamic, the middle is in the style of Japanese drums, and the latter half is in the style of a drum line using snares.
I composed this piece with the idea of having the players present a "tight performance" at a consistent tempo throughout the entire piece. In addition, the contrasts in strength and lightness are quite clear in this piece, so please take care in approach and sound to make them heard effectively. It would be more enjoyable to tune the three snare drums differently from each other to create a variety of expressions.
Regarding changes in the volume symbols within the repeats, in "pp-ppp," etc., use the sign (pp) on left first, and the right on the repeat (ppp).
