This work, a sequel to "Amana - Energy of Life," was commissioned by Sendai Jonan HS Wind Band in 2021. I deeply feel the preciousness of lives taken by COVID-19 and the bonds with my friends. This situation has brought about a major change in my state of mind and impacted my work.
The title "La musica dell' amabile amavier" means "Lovely Amabie" in Italian with a Florentine accent. Amabie (a mythical Japanese mermaid or merman) is said to make illnesses disappear. We hope to be blessed by that good fortune. In the first half I portrayed unresolved anger and anxiety regarding COVID-19 and the horrifying scene as it is. In the fast-paced sections, I tried to convey a strong feeling of moving forward with anxiety about where we should be heading. In the middle part, a lovely amabie appears, expressing feelings for a loved one, and in the second half of the piece, I tried to formulate a wish to overcome hardships, get rid of the plague, and turn everything around....
May this work suggest a bright future, resonating and reaching the hearts of our audience.
Performance Notes:
*In the "Optional Solo" section, any instrument can be used according to the conductor's instructions. Please make the best use of the player's character and choose the instrument that best fits the piece's mood.
*The direction of the phrases should be clear, and phrasing is important. Creating ideal music with your breath will produce a high-quality seamless, performance.
*Some parts have difficult mallet changes, so prepare mallet stands and line of sight to move to instruments smoothly. There are multiple cases of playing drums and S. Cym. with a single mallet, so be creative in your choice of equipment.
*Triangle holder should be used to secure triangle to a stand such as S. Cym. for smooth transfers.
*Percussion can be played with four players, but if there are more than five players, they will play supporting roles, as detailed in the score. Please refer to the sheet music and feel free to assign each instrument as you see fit.
*In Free Style Free Tempo, it is best to play without much awareness of the beat, placing importance on creating an atmosphere.
*Keep in mind that each scene should be colorful and expressive.
