Commissioned by Vive! Saxophone Quartet in 2006.I like the work of Paul Klee, German painter, and sometimes I wonder if music is included in the unique and vividly colored images. I wondered if I could express it in music in my own way, which became the motivation for the piece. .Insula is the Latin word for "island." Dulcamara is a coined word combining "dulcis (sweet)" and "amarus (bitter)". Seeing is believing. I think the best image comes from seeing the picture.As for the composer, it would be nice if this was something pop and a nostalgic new song.
