Program notes:
Akatombo, Furusato, Shabondama, Haru no Ogawa....
Japanese children's songs are familiar to many, and everyone can hum them.
There are many beautiful songs that resonate in the hearts of Japanese people. In this work, we have created a medley of "Hamabe no uta" (At the Shore), "Nanatsu no ko" (Seven Little Babies), and "Toriyanse" (Passepied) in various styles to convey the beauty and joy of these songs. Please enjoy these pieces that vividly depict Japanese scenes.

Performance notes:
For parts with octaves written in the score, such as Part 2 (Bb Cl./S.Sax.), Part 4 (Bsn./Trb./Euph.), and Part 6 (Bb Cl./Tp.), you may play either up or down, so please choose the register most comfortable. Also, if more than one player is playing, the sound will be thicker if players can split octaves.
If the bass clarinet is not a long pipe, select notes an octave higher.

Instrumentation:
Percussion part is required, but when the solo part is cut, play only wind instrument parts.
This score can be used for groupings such as woodwind quintet, saxophone 5-8, clarinet 8, etc., as well as for mixed octet and medium to large ensembles.
The arrangement aims to create an ensemble quality when played by 5 players, a small group quality when played by 10 players, and a full band sound by more than 20 players such that the music can be presented in any configuration to its fullest.

About the cuts
"Hamabe no uta" (At the Shore) - 2:45, "Nanatsu no ko" (Seven Little Babies) - 4:00, "Toriyanse" (Passepied) 4:00

This piece consists of the above three songs, but by combining each of them, it can be used within the time regulations for both ensemble contests and band competitions.

Suggestions for edited use:
"Hamabe no uta" (At the Shore) + "Nanatsu no ko" (Seven Little Babies) 4:30
A quiet ballad suitable for visiting performances, music classes, etc.,"Toriyanse" (Passepied) 4:00
Suitable for ensemble contest to display musicians techniques
"Hamabe no uta" (At the Shore) + "Toriyanse" (Passepied) 6:00
For band contests where contrast between slow and fast is appealing.

In addition to the above, you may cut other pieces as you wish, depending on time needs and the atmosphere of the program.
If you have the right personnel, you can also create your own medley by combining favorite songs from the same series, "Landscape of Color" and "Landscape of Color II".
We hope you will enjoy being flexible with edits and instrumentation.
