Procession to Peace was selected as the theme music for the All Japan Band Competition in 2001. This is an original version with a chorus option.
Play the piece strongly and lively, but please keep in mind that it is not a march. Also, although it is not necessary to strictly adhere to the specified tempo, the tempo will greatly change the expression of the piece, so please select the tempo accordingly.
The title of the piece, "procession," is meant to express the idea of people acting as one in pursuit of true peace. I also heard a story from a priest who once walked across America from Los Angeles to New York City for the peace movement. At first, he was alone, but by the time he reached New York City, there were several hundred people with him. This was the inspiration for the piece.
Peace does not only mean the resolution of war, but also the resolution of global environmental issues and other conflicts occurring in our lives.
In the history of mankind, there has never been a time without conflict, and even today there are still many conflicts that have not been resolved. I can only sigh when I think of this situation, and I can only hope that peace will come soon.

(Chorus lyrics translation)
The sound of the peace bell echoing across the land
Let's join hands and ring it together
For the sake of peace
Sing a song together
Aim for peace
Let us sing songs in high spirits
Let it ring!
Ring the bell!
Ring the bell!
While wishing for peace
Sing a song, sing a song, raise your voice high
