"Partita" by J.S. Bach was originally a work for harpsichord. As I was adjudicating with Mr. Kazuyuki Hayashida, a member of Masato Kumoi Saxophone Quartet, he asked for such an arrangement after we discussed the charm of Bach.According to him, there are plans for his quartet to perform all of the "Partitas", and the arrangement of No. 4 BWV828 has already been completed and premiered. I was appointed to arrange No. 6 BWV830 for the 3rd Subscription Concert (July 7, 2004, Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall).Requests from the members were to have it in E minor (original key) with voices not simply divided, but also with originality. As a result, it was completed as a challenge, and I really wish to try and enjoy the sound of baroque.
