Tchaikovsky has written numerous orchestral masterpieces. Of these works, many are from large-scale music works such as operas and ballets and are often performed independently, as is this "Polonaise". After all, Tchaikovsky is one of the leading "melodists" in music history. No one else has produced such abundant variety of imaginative melodic lines like those of Tchaikovsky. Carefully calculated rhythmic patterns and inherent excitement provide a solid musical structural frame, which makes his composition even more attractive. Though the harmonic structure is not too complicated, it seems that his melodic lines develop a timbral variety that can be the essence of "Tchaikovsky".This arrangement was made in 2011 by request from a director, and a good friend of mine of 30 years, Mr. Hirohiko Hasegawa of the prestigious Iyo High School Band (Ehime, Japan). Enjoy the alluring artistry of Tchaikovsky condensed into this one setting of "Polonaise".
