Written for and commissioned by the Gifu Junior Symphonic Band. Because the ensemble consists of various age groups, from elementary school students to adults, the work aimed to provide accessibility for all levels and also be enjoyable for everyone.
Before [B] where the Timpani enters, the Japanese style or sense "pause" has no rest written but is very important. The scene from [B] draws the original landscape of Japan, mountains seen in the distance, lush green fields spread everywhere in sight, and people working cheerfully. Dusk is depicted from [E]. A bird returns to its nest, calling in the distance. The piccolo solo can freely express this scene. At [F], the night scenery of light-up homes. From somewhere a song can be heard in a style that seems to be somewhat lonely, in a mode often heard in Japanese folk songs. Perform it freely, non-metric, in a folk like style. At [I] a festival has Japanese drums and lots of singing as flute sounds resonate. A rhythm of bold, happy dancing can be expressed by emphasizing the indicated accent effect.
