It's based upon impressions from painter Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944). Many of the works of Kandinsky, a master of abstract painting of the 20th century, are derived from music, and at first glance it is difficult to feel the dynamic pulse on the abstract screen. In this work, various colors and geometric forms of the artist are depicted symbolically through pitch, motive, and rhythm in each movement.This work was commissioned by the Matsumoto Flute Ensemble, active in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, and premiered at the group's 10th Regular Concert in November 2006.
