The original version of "Capricious Winds" is a flute quartet composed in 2007 commissioned by the Tokyo Flute Quartet. In 2013, at the request of Mr. Yasuhiko Ueki, conductor of Ensemble Spaβ, I transcribed it to an octet of 2 flutes, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, horn, bassoon, and contrabass. Because there were many inquiries about this transcription, I have decided to arrange it for a flexible instrumentation version naming it "Capricious Winds II", making it more accessible for various ensembles.
It is an easy and approachable piece with impressions of three different winds being the theme. Experiment with a wide variety of instrument groupings and enjoy the various tonal colors created by different ensemble settings.
