"Formosa" is Portuguese meaning "beautiful"; it is also an alias for Taiwan.
This short piece is in ternary form with the main part being 2/4 meter Allegro and middle part with 6/8 meter Andante.
A lively Yilan folksong style at Allegro and a somewhat elegant sounding music mixed with the rhythmic system of the Korean peninsula at Andante create a traditional East Asian sentiment.
