Commissioned by Ensemble Fanfare. The title, "Son-E-Fu", is the 57th of the 64th hexagram of the Yijing (Book of Changes). When I did some fortune-telling with half of the sketch done, this "Son-E-Fu" came out. Let me brief "Yijing" and "Zhou Yi".
It means there are times when flexibility and adaptability, like the wind, are necessary, but one must not become indecisive. It is important to listen to knowledgeable experts. The symbolism is "like the wind", "entry", "indecisiveness", "travel" and "marriage proposal or relationship".
However, this work does not represent the hexagram. The hexagram only an undercurrent of this work. The first half is written differently from normal notation. In meas. 8, "tu-tu-tu-tu" becomes faster, but the number of "tu" can be 6 times or more. The duration between C and D is free.
