WISH for Wind Orchestra
1989 All Japan Band Competition Required Piece
Flexible version was premiered by Tokyo Elements in September 2018
The work features two basic elements: a pensive, lyrical opening, with much emotion, is followed by a bright and aggressive dance feature reflecting the vitality of Noh theatre. The climax at measure 45 is followed by 6 reflective measures, then more rhythmic events A Tempo. Enjoy the contrast with these two parts. Present a grand, vibrant Maestoso for the big finale.
This was a required piece for the 1989 AJBC. I remember Maestro Fennell and the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra taught and advised a lot during recording and publication.
It is my great pleasure to transform it into a flexible setting after 30 years and to premiere it with "Tokyo ELEMENTS", especially with some members of the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra.Thank you for this opportunity!
