This is a flexible sequel to my previous "Suite for Small Band". This time, I decided to have a traditional feel of themes passed from generation to generation. All songs in the medley are original but hopefully also sentimental and familiar. I didn't have specific countries in mind but I saw a village in some distant place.

As titled, there are two types of songs. The first is 9/8 in F minor, with doleful temperament. I want musicians to play slowly and lyrically but the tempo itself should not be too slow. (Listen to Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" as a reference) The second song is a 2/4 in F Major, in contrast to the first. It's best to interpret it as dance rather than simply bright. It may also be fun to come up with "original" lyrics and sing it as a traditional tune.

The flexible format offers various ensemble formation. The idea is to perform with good balance and play beautifully. Looking forward to a wonderful performance with rich expression.
