This piece, written in 2018 for the Ensemble Club of Kumamoto Prefectural School for the Blind, was originally titled "Aria and Bouree" and is based on a hymn theme. At the request of the ensemble members, the title was changed to "Volcano Mirror." This work can be seen as a continuation of "Volcano Tower" (2007), representing a parallel world within a mirror. The mirror serves as a model and an exemplar. The enjoyment of music that they have inherited is now something they will reflect and pass on to future generations. I chose the title "Volcano Mirror" with the hope that this piece would assist in that process.
At the beginning, the wind chimes should be played improvisationally with three different pitches randomly. In the fast section, the tempo should naturally increase, akin to a rising heartbeat. Within the repeat of measure 91, accompany the marimba's resonance with bird calls that are gentle and joyful.

Instrumentation:
This piece was written for 6 players but is playable by 5.
