The 2008 work for full band has been condensed to woodwind quintet. The structure is much the same as the band composition. It begins with Akatonbo, a Japanese folk song by Kosaku Yamada, and then Arirang, a Korean folk song often considered to be the anthem of Korea is gently feathered in. After a transition, Akatonbo becomes more lively and intertwines with Arirang, with modified tempi and harmonics. Akatonbo then accelerates toward the climax as the two melodies share a joyous coexistence.
