Commissioned by North Alps Symphonic Band (Toyama Prefecture) in 2019 and premiered at the 54th Toyama Ensemble Contest, "Humoresk" draws its inspiration from the German word "Humor". This piece embodies a capricious character of mood rather than jocularity. Following the introduction, each segment develops freely, all anchored in a consistent motif from start to finish. While maintaining a structural unity reminiscent of classical work, the composition fully embraces the interpretation and sentiment of the players. Moreover, the piece achieves a high level of performance quality through its three-dimensional construction and the optimal utilization of each instrument's unique timbre. It also features a fresh and light-hearted quality stemming from distinctive instrumentation, making it thoroughly enjoyable and worth dedicating a lot of time in preparation.
