Commissioned by Albion Clarinet Varier (Nagasaki) in 2008. As the title suggests, I composed it with the desire to have it played "with movement." It is intentionally composed in a way to be flexible between phrases. There are many indications such as rit. and accel., and various performance effects can be achieved to the pleasure of the leader. It depends on the performer's sense and momentum to connect the interlude of "slow" to the latter half of "fast" for a meaningful interpretation of fast-slow-fast. I also selected the clarinet for its widest and richest range of the wind instruments. If your four clarinets can sound as one, it would be ideal.
