The original piece was the second movement of the "Trumpet Concerto" composed in 2003 as a commissioned work for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Central Band. Following a suggestion by the wind orchestra conductor Mr. Shinichiro Tagawa, it was rearranged into a wind orchestra piece titled "Sentimentale" in 2015. Subsequently, a version for the saxophone quartet was also created. Over time, in 2023, it was rearranged again to be enjoyed as a solo for various wind instruments with piano accompaniment. I hope that this piece will be cherished not only for performances at salon concerts and recitals but also as a practice piece that nurtures the musicians's spirit.
