To those interested in the tuba at its best,The DVD, “Mastery Clinic for Tuba” produced by Brain Music in Japan and featuring super tubist Tsugita Shinpei, is a unique and extraordinary document for two reasons:
it is a wonderful introduction to the tuba for persons of all ages who may not be familiar with the tuba and it is absolutely the best sampling of tuba playing on the Bb, C, Eb and F tubas superbly demonstrated by Mr. Tsugita, that I have encountered. There are demonstrations available of the four principal tubas that are used in the world today, Bb, C, Eb and F but This is the first time I’ve seen all four played in succession by the same person and at the world class level of Tsugita Shinpei; a truly remarkable performance on any one of the four instruments but on this DVD showcased on all four it is simply amazing.
This DVD is a must for students just starting on the tuba, for advanced players and teachers who finally will be able to experience the four types of tubas played at a ‘state of the art’ level. Bravissimo Tsugita Shinpei and Thank you Brain Music.

I have had the pleasure of working with Shimpei Tsugita during his summer study with me in the United States in the year 2000. I immediately recognized his special talent and have been following his career very closely as his friend and advisor. I am proud to say that today Mr.Tsugita is being deservingly recognized as one of the new leading artists/teachers of the tuba in Japan. His new innovative DVD “Mastery Tuba” will provide serious artistic training to all tubists from the beginner to the well established. I give this project and Shimpei Tsugita my highest recommendation and support.
Sincerely,
