When Bravo Music commissioned "educational music that can be enjoyed by middle and high school students," the first style that came to mind was that of Jim Swearingen.
I was in band club in junior and senior high school when there were few Japanese works available, so Swearingen's music really helped us a lot.
"Invicta Overture", "Romanesque", "Centuria", "Seagate Overture"... the list is endless. I composed "A New Singer" in homage to Swearingen, wishing to have a similar sound. This is truly an "educational" piece, with soaring fanfares, exhilarating melodies, and a singable middle section, where each part has its own enjoyable role, and where basic skills can be developed through practice.
I hope you will enjoy playing this piece in varied situations such as competition, school festivals, and for basic training.
As the title "A New Singer", I hope that those who have recently begun playing an instrument (and those who have not) will practice with the image of being in the limelight on stage as a featured singer.
And "A New Singer" is also an anagram of Swearingen!
