Four movements of this surprising little suite include a humbly elegant Intrada, a rousingly comic Scherzo, a reserved Minuet, and a bold March that combine to make a smaller ensemble sound musically quite grand.

Available in various settings such as wind ensemble, section ensembles, brass band, and string ensemble.

-Part 1- Only instruments to play the 8va parts are violin, flute, and Eb clarinet. Piccolo plays some parts 8va or 8vb, and tacets are optional. Feel free to do what is best for the ensemble.

-Part 5- Instruments with * (flute, violin, Bb clarinet) are optional. These may be added if violin, flute and Eb clarinet play the 8va part in Part 1, to provide bottom support and balance.

-Percussion- Percussion is optional.
If adding percussion, add in the order of Drums → Timpani → Keyboard percussion. Drums include Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Suspended Cymbal, and Crash Cymbal. One percussionist can play all on the drum set or each instrument can be performed individually for a more symphonic sound. Additional percussion instruments are optional as long as the rhythm is the same. For example, you can add or alternate Tambourine with the S.D. and Triangle with the Ride Cymbal. These additions will create a variety of unique timbres. Keyboard percussion instruments are optional. The upper staff is for glockenspiel and xylophone and the lower staff is for marimba and vibraphone. Combinations of, and when to play either line are all optional. Aim for what is most suitable for the ensemble timbre. Another option is to play the grand staff with the piano or celesta.

If there are many performers, you can create various colors and musical styles by alternating ensemble instrumentation in different parts of the music. Not everyone has to play all of the time. Therefore, experiment with various combinations of instruments to create more unique musical experiences.
Instruments in the same family will provide more resonance. With mixed instrumentation, work on the balance of the ensemble.
