Because the group's name means night musicians, I selected a lunar image.After the fanfare, the work proceeds in minor mode, but after a very dissonant bridge, settles into C major. When the mid-section's warm chorale style concludes, it returns to the motif of the first half, and then the motif and the melody of the middle part progress together towards a grand conclusion.
