The Water is Wide is a Scottish folk song from the 16th-17th century that gained much attention from a national TV performance in Japan. I first arranged it for small band, and then rearranged it with full orchestration, voices, and countermelodies for dual grade use. The piece is to be utilized as a basic training chorale, focusing on melody and harmony more than Scottish traditional elements. There is an intended element of entrance like "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral" so the opening is an homage to that work.
