This famous tune was written for the 1880 opening of Mt. Vesuvius' funicular railway. This arrangement was initially written in 2000.This reduced instrumentation version has exactly the same structure as the original. There are three major changes: 1) double reed parts can be played by other instruments, 2) trumpet, horn, and trombone have only two parts, 3) percussion can be played by less than five people. If there are enough percussion players, you can use the large band version. Needless to say, it's a bright and fun song. First, aim for a lively and exciting performance.
