Zui Zui, for beginning band, was commissioned by the Florida Bandmasters Association. The piece is based on the melody of Zui Zui Zukkorobashi, a traditional children's song in Japan that imitates the sound of grinding sesame seeds. The original melody of the song (below) utilizes two different modes, so some accidentals appear in the piece.
