There are many huge trees revered by ancestors since ancient times in Japan. They have lived for thousands of years as symbols of forests.
In 2000, the Forestry Agency selected giant trees having a diameter of one meter or more in Japan's national forests, naming them "100 Giants of the Forest" to preserve them as assets for following generations. I composed this piece to pay respect to Japan, a country with forests, and to predecessors who maintained those forests. The opening image is looking up at a huge tree in a deep forest. Glittering sunlight shines through the leaves of trees, and the song gradually moves into a world of fantasy.
